Problem Deleting SQL Job

Problem:

When deleting a SQL job, receive this error: "Cannot add, update, or delete a job (or its steps or schedules) that originated from an MSX server."

Diagnosis:

SQL is confused because the server was recently renamed

Solution:

DECLARE @srv sysname
SET @srv = CAST(SERVERPROPERTY('ServerName') AS sysname)
UPDATE sysjobs SET originating_server = @srv

Alexa Web Search API announced

The Alexa Web Search Platform "provides public access to the vast web crawl collected by Alexa Internet. Users can search and process billions of documents — even create their own search engines — using Alexa's search and publication tools. Alexa provides compute and storage resources that allow users to quickly process and store large amounts of web data. Users can view the results of their processes interactively, transfer the results to their home machine, or publish them as a new web service."

The Alexa Web Information Service is an existing service that "offers a platform for creating innovative web solutions and services based on Alexa's vast repository of information about the web. Developers, researchers, web site owners, and merchants can get information about Web sites, such as traffic data, contact info and related links, as well as an xml-based search engine and browse service, and incorporate them directly into their own Web sites or services."

I would like to incorporate both of these into Lookmarks. 1. So I can show more results when you search on something for which there are no bookmarks and 2. So Lookmarks can provide additional information on existing bookmarks (such as search rank, and whether the link is still active or not).

Yahoo acquires Del.icio.us

Internet News Article | Reuters.com: "Yahoo Inc., the world's largest Internet media site, has agreed to acquire Del.icio.us, a site that allows users to share their Web bookmarks, the site's founder said on Friday."

This is great validation for those like me who have been passionate about social bookmarks. Lookmarks launched about the same time as del.icio.us, and I've learned alot from watching them work over the last two years. Congratulations!

Signature British buses rumble into retirement: "The Routemaster's demise as part of everyday London life has triggered an outpouring of nostalgia. The British Broadcasting Corp. is running an evening of TV program celebrating the bus on Saturday. The composer Tom Smail has composed a 'Requiem for the Routemaster,' an orchestral piece that evokes the throb of an engine, the tinkle of a bell and the zip of a conductor's ticket machine.
The German-born London photographer Ralf Obergfell helped create a tribute to the much-loved bus on the Web site www.routemasters.co.uk."

Seattle XBOX 360 Inventory

The new XBOX 360 will be in short supply this christmas. I just called a few Seattle area stores to see when they will be getting more in stock. Here is what I learned:

Best Buy:

Northgate: More in December 18th, not sure how many, no waiting list.
Tukwila: More in transit, sometime before Christmas, don't know how many.
Bellevue: No idea when, limited supply, first-come first-serve.

Circuit City, Bellevue: No idea when, but they will be in limited supply, and sold on a first-come first-serve basis.

EB Games, Pacific Place: It will take until January to fulfill their existing pre-orders.

Note that the game consoles are currently selling on ebay for more than twice their retail price.
